On June 28th Amber and I went to the YMCA in Oakville. We received the Peace Award on behalf of the Halton Youth Initiative (HYI) volunteers. The Peace Award is dedicated to groups of youth who work hard to better the region we live in.
Amber and I were extremely thankful to be noticed as leaders in this group. It was an amazing experience as well as a chance to bond between the two of us. We share many interests and work well together in our groups so it was nice to see each other in person.
Accepting the award on behalf of HYI was a very special honour because we both care about the initiative.
We arrived at the site and took some photos which we are all excited for the world to see. Amber and I are proud of everything that the youth volunteers and adult allies have achieved together over the years. All our team members should be proud of themselves and each other! Again, a BIG thank you to the Oakville YMCA for recognizing the HYI.
Appearing in the photos: Gabrielle Dymock (white shirt), Amber Siddiqui (striped pants), Teresa Rinaldi, Oakville YMCA Manager of Community Outreach and Special Events (long black dress), and Siobhan Laverdiere HYI Coordinator (short flowered dress).
